Please be patient with this blog. I'm not the most literate with this computer software-techie stuff. I'm still trying to get the reviews under the Review page. (Not sure how I got the first one done!)

Night Owl Romance - 4.75 out of 5

Beck and Call is a sizzling hot romance with an edgy BDSM theme. A secrete admirer sends you an extremely graphic erotic novel, what do you do? Throw it away or take a quick peak. Temptation gets the best of Serena Trayden, one little peak turns into a world wind adventure into self discovery and fulfillment.
Even the very efficient Serena Traydon has hopes and dreams; some more realistic than other. Determined to get over her longtime infatuation with her boss, Keith MacLauren CEO of MC, “Mr. keep it strictly business”, she decides to plunge back into the dating pool with the help of her two best friends Debbie and Claire.
I love that the author empowered Serena with the personality of an astute executive assistant, a loyal employee, and a caring friend. Though her social skills in dealing with men have been few making her pretty much naïve and past experiences have left her sexually stunted by low self-esteem, Serena still believes that there is someone out there for her. Serena’s curiosity about the BDSM lifestyle was extremely believable. Women are for the most part inherently visual creatures, so having one’s deepest and darkest fantasies depicted in illustrations and text could be a turn on, even for the naive and sheltered. I was able to empathize with Serena’s feeling of inadequacies and unfamiliarity as she ventured into the BDSM lifestyle; her willingness to move outside the box that her family and society had placed her in to find the happiness that she was seeking.
Every reader loves a strong hero and Keith MacLauren has all the right qualities. Industrious and innovative in his work ethics, obsessively driven to prove himself to his extremely dysfunctional family, a reputation as a shrewd businessman with a very short fuse. In his quest to achieve successes in the business world, Keith has hidden his secret penchant for the BDSM lifestyle. While living a duel persona; beautiful escorts for social events and trips to the BDSM club when the need hits, coupled with his non-personal interaction at work has resulted in his inability to see the personal aspects of his employees. That is until a chance surprise birthday for his executive assistant reveals to him just how little he knows about her in the nearly two years that she has been at his side.
The novels pace and flow is set in sync to Keith’s master plan of indoctrinating Serena into the BDSM lifestyle with him as her one and only master. Imbedded in the main theme is the unsavory side of the corporate ladder. I must admit that the novel did take a few turns that I was not expecting; corporate sabotage and some other issues that I won’t spoil. The author’s incorporation of these elements served to add credibility to the story and nicely handled some social issues depicted.
There were times that I found the BDSM scenes rather intense and a little shocking in their explicitness; they were extremely hot, spicy and down right sinfully written. Not sure if some of the dialog was just a little over the top or whether there are Dom's that do address their Sub so explicitly. Inquiring minds want to know.
Although the climax of the novel may have been served more effectively by the addition of a little more drama to coincide with the elaborateness of Keith's original plan, I thoroughly enjoyed “Beck and Call” by Abby Gordon and look forward to her next masterpiece.

I was so pulled in that the real world just melted away and the story was my ONLY focus for the duration. And did you see that cover? WOW!!!! Simple, sexy, elegant.

But those deeper, darker desires seemed so forbidden without the right partner.Keith McLauren had spent years training for this moment. He was a Dom and he’d finally found the perfect submissive.
